What does "Internet Explorer Script Error" mean?

I was trying to do a scan of my PC using the Onecare free safety scanner, but a message kept on coming up. At the top the message said: "Internet Explorer Script Error".

Under that it said: "An error has occurred in the script on this page."

It gave further details as follows: -

Then it said: "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?"

I have tried switching off my PC and re-starting it, but nothing will get rid of these Internet Explorer error messages.

What has caused this problem, and how can I get rid of it? I haven't found any other problems with my computer yet. I'd be glad of any help.Thanks!

Check you computer's clock for date and time to make sure it is correct. If it is, follow these steps.

Try disabling Script Debugging. If there are problems with the script on websites you visit, you'll get the error message constantly.

-In IE on the Tools menu, click Internet Options

-In the Internet Options dialog box, click Advanced

-Click to select the Disable script debugging check boxes

-Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check box

-Click Apply, Click OK

-A reboot may be required for your settings to stick

Everytime i am online, my screen displays a box that says " Internet Explorer has detected an error and must close. Any information you have not saves will be lost. Sorry for the inconvenience." Then it prompts me to send or don't send a report. I can move the box and continue, but then, without warning, Internet Explorer closes... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG HERE!? I have an eMachines T1100 using dial-up with Windows XP and I have DISK CLEANUPed and DEFRAGed twice in one month.

Sorry to tell you this but your computer model is a piece of junk and that is why you have problems with your computer...Emachine is cheap and you know that saying the more you spend, the better it is and the longer it last??? You should save up and get a better computer...Oh and u should also get DSL with Bellsouth....
When you send the error report, lots of times, there will be a link that shows up, explaining what happened, and what to do about it. Internet explorer, usually is not the culprit, it most likely is the program, that you are on, when it happens..
Most probably this is because some spyware/virus. Try scanning computer using antivirus software. There are some good AV personal editions available in market for free of cost. Also the other options is to use firefox instead of IE.
Forget IE and start using Firefox
right click the big blue "E" icon on desktop, click properties. Then click settings, there you will see a "view objects" click it. delete all in this folder, dont worry, your browser will download it again when it needs it. close, delete temporay internet files, put a check in delte all offline content, close it all. Clean temp folder. start browser again. If it happens again, goto to add/remove programs and uninstall any and all java programs listed, flash and shockwave. reboot machine, start browser. go to www.sun.com and download new jave and www.adobe.com for shockwave and flash.
Firefox is the only way to go. It's more secure, no pop ups, open script, totally user defined. You can customize it exactly how YOU want it.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and virus on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

Could someone tell me what's going on? I just had bought a new system, reformatted it, placed Window's XP Home Addition on it, and downloaded Yahoo. It's never gave me this trouble til now. I also have the newest Internet Explorer that I downloaded from the Yahoo home page in the section of Downloads. What might be going on? Is it in my system, or the software?

Whenever i clicked on the internet explorer icon, it keeps coming up that internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This happens EVERYTIME. Here is more info about the error:

Try going to the Control Panel, then Internet Options. Next click the Advanced Tab. At the bottom right you should see a Reset... button. You can click it, and it'll reset your Int Explorer to default settings. This might solve the problem. The only thing is you'll have to one by one add your addons back - plugins that you may have installed, etc. Hope this helps!

Uninstall it and reinstall it...also try running the version of IE (run without add ons)
Uninstall, then re-install. But you should try downloading Mozilla Firefox - 77% of internet attacks are directed at IE. Plug-ins work fine with Firefox, too
Though I'm not really answering your question, I highly, HIGHLY, recommend Mozilla Firefox. 100000% better than IE.
It seems you are having a corrupted Intrnet Explorer Version7.

Try the following steps:

(1) From the Add/Remove programs of the control panel, uninstall IE7. The system will automatically go back to IE version6.

(2) Then check whether you are able to access the internet. If yes, the problem definitely lies with IE7, which can be reinstalled by downloading from the net. If still you are not able to access the net, then you are rest assured that the problem is not with Internet Explorer and the PC has to be checked for viruses, malicious software, spyware and the like.

Hopefully, this should solve the problem.
Go to Google and type all the error information . They have helped me several times to solve problems. Also go you can go to Microsoft Help web site they have errors listed with fixes. I personally find help received on Google easier to understand. Good luck

When I am reviewing my mail and a second window pops up, after a close it always get an error from my internet explorer. It says Internet Explorer as encountered and error and needs to close. This sounds like a computer virus. I'd suggest using AdAware, SpyBot S%26amp;D, and free online scans from Norton and PandaSoftware.

People that know a thing or two about computers will tell you that they don't call it Internet Explorer, but Internet Exterminator. It is by far the worst browser and the most vulnerable for virus, adware and spyware infections. Take my advise and quit using it. I suggest you install Mozilla Firefox, the safest browser there is.
